Terms of sale
These terms govern orders placed with searchmirrors.com and explain how personal data is handled for shoppers in the United Kingdom and the United States. They were rewritten on 25 September 2026. If a statute where you live gives you a right a shop cannot remove, that right still stands.
1. The seller
searchmirrors.com sells mirrors to order. Questions about an order, a return, or your data go to jamestaylorsuk@gmail.com. PayPal payments are sent to that same address. For a data request, put “Privacy request” in the subject line.
2. How an order becomes a contract
The catalog is an invitation to order, not a binding offer. A contract is formed only when we email an acceptance or when payment is captured and an invoice number is issued. We may decline an order we cannot ship, or one where the price was an obvious mistake. You confirm you are 18 or older. The contract language is English.
3. What you are buying
Shape, size, frame, and glass are described in good faith. Glass, metal, and wood are natural materials, so a modest shift in tone or grain is not a fault. If a mirror sells out before we accept the order, anything already taken is refunded.
4. Price and freight
The price you pay is the figure shown at checkout, in US dollars. There is no free-shipping threshold. Freight is a flat $29.99 on every order, and any estimated tax is shown before you pay. White-glove handling, when a piece needs it, is arranged after checkout unless the product page says it is included. Listed prices include a 30% studio margin over the supplier’s cost.
5. How you pay
Pay by card when a live card processor is connected, or by PayPal to jamestaylorsuk@gmail.com. Each order receives a random invoice number. We do not keep your full card number. Title in the mirror stays with us until payment clears. This static checkout records a preview order in your browser until live payment keys are connected.
6. Delivery
We ship to the address you enter. White-glove windows are usually two to five weeks. Risk passes when the carrier leaves the mirror at that address. Mark visible damage with the driver before you sign.
7. Cancellation and returns
United Kingdom. If you buy as a consumer you may cancel for any reason within 14 days of receiving the mirror, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Email us inside those 14 days, then send the mirror back within a further 14 days. We refund the price and the standard outbound freight within 14 days of your notice, and we may wait until the mirror is back or until you show you have sent it. You pay the return freight unless the mirror is faulty or not as described. A piece made only to measurements you supplied may fall outside the cancellation right. Catalog mirrors are standard pieces unless the page says they are made to order.
United States. Return an unused mirror in its original packaging within 30 days of delivery. Email us before you ship it back. You pay return freight unless we sent the wrong item, a damaged item, or a mirror that does not match its description. If your state gives a longer right, we do not shorten it.
8. If the mirror is faulty
United Kingdom. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the mirror must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. You may reject it for a refund within 30 days. After that you may ask for a repair or replacement, and then a price reduction or a final right to reject. Those rights can last up to six years in England and Wales, and five years in Scotland.
United States. The mirror must match its description and be fit for ordinary use as a mirror. Where your state implies a warranty of merchantability or fitness, that warranty is not disclaimed.
9. What we do not exclude
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any duty the law says cannot be limited. UK statutory rights and non-waivable US state rights stay in place. Where a cap is allowed, liability for a single order is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for business losses if you buy as a trader, or for loss that was not a foreseeable result of breaking the contract.
10. The site
Do not misuse the site, scrape it in a way that slows it down, or pay with someone else’s details. The name searchmirrors.com, the mark, the copy, and the photographs stay with us. You may share a link. You may not copy the catalog to run your own shop.
11. Data protection — United Kingdom
If you are in the United Kingdom, searchmirrors.com is the controller of the personal data described here. We follow the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
We hold your name, email, phone if you give one, and delivery address; the order, price, and invoice number; a payment reference from the card processor or PayPal, not the full card number; the IP address used to keep the shop secure; and the bag and cookie choice stored in your browser, described in the cookies notice.
Lawful bases: contract, to take and fulfil the order; legal obligation, for tax and invoices; legitimate interests, for security and to understand which mirrors are ordered, balanced against your rights; consent, for any non-essential cookie. Essential storage does not need consent. We do not sell personal data, we do not ask for special-category data, and we do not make solely automated decisions that produce a legal effect.
Recipients, only as needed: the payment service (a separate controller of payment data), the carrier, Google when your browser requests the typefaces, and an authority if the law requires it.
Your UK GDPR rights are access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. Email us. We reply within one month, and we may extend by up to two further months for a complex request if we tell you. You may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113, whether or not you have written to us first.
12. Data protection — United States
If you live in the United States, this section is our privacy notice, including the notice at collection under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 and following), and the comparable notices for Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states with a similar consumer privacy statute, where those laws apply to us.
We collect identifiers (name, email, phone, address, invoice number), commercial information (what you ordered and the amount), and limited internet activity needed to run the shop and the bag in your browser. We do not collect precise geolocation or sensitive personal information in order to sell a mirror. Sources are you, your browser, the payment service, and the carrier.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use it for targeted advertising. There is nothing to opt out of under a “sale” or “share.” If that changes, this page will say so and a “Do not sell or share my personal information” control will be added first.
Where a state privacy law applies you may ask us to confirm what we hold, correct it, delete it (subject to exceptions such as finishing a transaction and keeping records the law requires), and opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and profiling that produces legal effects. We do not sell, share, advertise that way, or profile you for those decisions. Email jamestaylorsuk@gmail.com. We aim to finish a request within 45 days, and we may extend once by another 45 days if we tell you why. We verify a request by matching your email to an order. An authorised agent may write where your state allows it, with proof of permission. We will not charge a different price or refuse service because you used these rights. To appeal a refusal, email with “Privacy appeal” in the subject. You may then contact your state attorney general.
California Shine the Light (Civil Code § 1798.83). We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
13. Transfers, how long we keep data, and children
An order may be handled in the United Kingdom or the United States. Where UK GDPR requires a transfer tool, we use the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or another safeguard the ICO accepts. Ask us if you want a copy of the relevant safeguard.
Order and invoice records are kept for six years. Letters about privacy requests are kept for three years. A cookie choice lasts up to one year. Data that lives only in your browser stays until you clear it.
The shop is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data, including under the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Email us if you believe we have, and we will delete it.
14. Which law applies
If you live in the United Kingdom, these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, and if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also use the courts where you live.
If you live in the United States, these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, except that the consumer-protection and privacy statutes of your state apply wherever they cannot be waived, and you may sue in that state. We do not require arbitration.
